- 9 AM-1 PM: Fever Thermometer Exchange at Farmers' Market (To avoid breakage and contamination, mercury fever thermometers MUST be contained in an unbreakable and closed container such as its original case, a plastic toothbrush holder, or a soda/water bottle with a screw-on cap. - 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 PM, 164 Carl Road, Sunnyvale: Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off. California State Law forbids disposal of Household Hazardous Waste to garbage and recycling carts or down drains. The City of Sunnyvale hosts Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Events for residents, at no cost, every third Saturday monthly (except December). The Santa Clara County Household Hazardous Waste Program provides certified personnel to conduct collection events. Residents may transport up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per trip. - 9 AM. – Noon: Great American Litter Pick-up. Clean up litter in neighborhoods and next to roadways around Fair Oaks Park, Lakewood Park, and the Columbia Neighborhood Center. Gloves, pick-up sticks, safety vests, and bags will be available for our volunteers. Also, in cooperation with Sunnyvale Parks' staff, some park maintenance and beautification activities needing volunteer help will occur at these locations on this date.
