Meetings:

You are invited to attend our monthly Green Building Professionals Guild  (GBPG) meetings.  By attending the Guilds, you will:

  • Learn about cutting edge green building practices, products, technologies, market trends and legislative updates
  • Network with fellow green building professionals - participation in the Guild is available to anyone who works in the building industry or another industry that helps support the market for green building
  • Earn continuing eductation credits towards CGBP recertification

Build It Green currently offers Green Building Professionals Guild (GBPG) meetings four times per month in four different regions: the South Bay (Mountain View), the East Bay (Berkeley), the North Bay (San Rafael) and the city of San Francisco.  Each chapter meets monthly, and affiliates are welcome to attend meetings in any region regardless of their place of work.

The Passive Home

Description:  Nabih will describe the European “Passive House” concept where homes do not need conventional heating systems.  Nabih completed the remodel of his home in Berkeley to this standard.   He will also present the European manufacturing and construction methods which ensure that energy consumption of residential buildings perform according to the designed targets.

Nabih began his career 25 years ago in the Bay Area as a forensic, diagnostic and remedial architect, analyzing and repairing defective buildings.  In 1992, he moved to Austria where he developed his own housing projects while learning about and applying green, energy efficiency techniques in design, manufacturing and construction.  In 2002, he managed a company which imported modern, prefab component homes from Austria to Ireland.  He is now back in California and is seeking to apply this experience to improve the energy efficiency and comfort of homes in the USA.
