Spring brings rich environmental offerings--great opportunities to learn to be part of the solution to our environmental challenges, to celebrate the earth, and to meet your neighbors!  Next week is especially packed, but then things seem to settle down a bit.  All events are free-of-charge.

  • Grassroots Organizing for Climate-Friendly Communities. Saturday, March 13, 9 AM-noon, Roosevelt Community Center, 901 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose.  This Sierra Club-sponsored training is designed to equip advocates to influence land use policies and develop and spread an effective message.   • Adapting to Climate Change: Preparing Palo Alto for Inevitable Impacts. Speaker: Peter Drekmeier, former Mayor of Palo Alto.   • Cities for All Ages:  Land Use Planning and Our Aging Population, a presentation by Don Weden, hosted by the Mountain View Senior Advisory Committee. Wednesday, March 17, 4 PM, Mountain View Senior Center, 266 Escuela Avenue, Mountain View:  Free.
  • City of Sunnyvale Urban Forest Focus Group Meeting. Thursday, March 18, 6:30 PM, Fair Oaks Park Building.  Sunnyvale has received a state grant to create an urban forestry management plan.  Consultants have been hired and will be introduced at the meeting.  Volunteer help will be requested.  Please RSVP to Leonard Dunn:  ldunn@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us 
  • "Tapped" (Movie).  Saturday, March 20, 7-9 PM, Fellowship Hall, Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church, 728 W.
